GENERATION DANCE CLASS

For everybody that loves to Dance !!

This all began with a Young Generation /Second Generation Reunion Dance Class .

Dancers who had worked for Dougie Squires OBE MVO Young Generation & Second Generation came together from all over the UK to the Dance Attic London for a reunion in the form of a class.

From a small Face Book group it spread to over 150 people arriving...dancers were calling to be invited even though they hadn't been in the Young and Second Generation.

We didn't know what to expect on Sunday, 27 February 2016 but the atmosphere was exciting... such energy and enthusiasm. When the music came on the generations of dancers just went back into wanting to dance again… performing and being young again... When speaking to them all it was obvious that the respect and discipline of being a dancer had such an impact on all their lives…

Everybody had a brilliant time….there was magic in the air…. The age range started from mid-thirties to dancers over seventy!

The Dance critic from the Guardian newspaper Jeffery Taylor came and couldn’t believe the energy and passion that seems so lacking in today’s dancers

In 2017 Dougie was directing the Dame Vera Lynn 100th Birthday celebration at the London Palladium , we asked if any of the dancers would be interested as they used to perform in Dame Vera’s BBC entertainment shows, thinking about 20 would want to perform .. but the response was over 90 ! and all of them did …it was a very special event and to all the dancers and was a truly amazing experience one which they haven’t come down from .

So the classes have continued for coming up to 5 years! Friendships reunited and new friendships made, it really has become a Generation family, supporting friends has been amazing, We meet each month in London at Dance Attic for a 2 hour class of warm up and routine, Its been so fabulous seeing everyone and I am so honoured to take the class with such a special bunch of dancers and friends

During the present situation

I have been hosting the classes on face Book Palladium Generations Dancers page EVERY SUNDAY ! it free and it has been fun!!

The feed back has been amazing ..with dancers joining in the live class from all over the world, With out me knowing the Lucy Greaves one of the dancers set up a donation page to say thank you and raised over £1000.00 for The Royal Theatrical Fund

Also during Lock downJackie Travers one of the group wrote a song ‘IT WONT’T BE LONG UNTIL WE ARE TOGETHER” the wonders of science we all recorded the track and Nic Rye produced and produced video with donations all going to Dame Vera Lynn’s children’s charity

It’s open to everyone who loves to Dance,
